WPBS-TV Presents Special Programming in November for 60th Anniversary of JFK’s Assassination

WATERTOWN, NY (November 14, 2023) – Like 9/11, November 22, 1963 is a date when everyone who was a youth or adult at the time remembers where they were, when they heard the news of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. We mark the 60th anniversary with special programming, including:

NOVEMBER 17TH

Inside the Warren Commission (9:00 pm)

A riveting account of the people who worked tirelessly to discover the truth behind the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. 

NOVEMBER 19TH

Towering Task: Story of the Peace Corps (12 noon)

A unique U.S. government agency, born out of the Cold War and the heady days of the Kennedy administration, redefines how America engages with the rest of the world.

JFK: The Making of a President (2:00 pm)

The assassination of John F. Kennedy in November 1963 transformed him from man into legend. But that reading of history can disguise the fascinating and contradictory man behind the myth.

RFK: The Lost President (3:00 pm)

Explore how Kennedy was transformed from a son of privilege and Cold War warrior to an advocate of peace and champion of the people during the tumultuous 1960s. 

Jackie: A Tale of Two Sisters (4:00 pm)

Jackie Kennedy Onassis remains to this day an iconic figure of high fashion and tragedy. Her sister Lee Radziwill, however, is less well-known. Yet, it is impossible to understand one without the other. 

NOVEMBER 22ND

JFK: Breaking the News (8:00 pm)

A focus on the media coverage of the national tragedy: President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, with an insightful look at the emergence of television as the nation’s primary source of breaking news information.
