WPBS-TV ANNOUNCES NEW CINEMA SIX PUBLIC SCREENINGS

Watertown, NY- September 2, 2014

WPBS-DT is proud to announce Cinema Six, which will bring educational, entertaining, and informative films to the public in our local area. WPBS will be featuring local productions along with national Public Broadcasting programs.  Cinema Six will begin in September 2014 and will continue through February 2015, with one screening each month at varied locations, over the course of six months.   All screenings are free and open to the public.

Cinema Six Schedule:

September 19, 2014 @ 6pm
The Great Cable Carry – Union Hotel, Sackets Harbor, NY                 

On September 19th, WPBS-DT will screen their newest local production “The Great Cable Carry” at 6pm at the Union Hotel (previously the Seaway Discovery Center) in Sackets Harbor, NY.  Discover the crucial role that North Country residents played in defeating the British military during the War of 1812. Learn how they carried a five-ton cable from Ellisburg to Sackets Harbor, NY and why it was so important to the war effort. In June of 2014, modern North Country residents re-enacted the Great Cable Carry along the same twenty-mile route that their ancestors took two hundred years ago.  This local production will air on    Sunday, September 28th at 1pm.  After the broadcast, stay tuned for special 1812 themed programming.
