WPBS Marks Memorial Day with National Memorial Day Concert and a Selection of Documentaries

WATERTOWN, NY; May 26, 2022 – Monday, May 30th is Memorial Day, when Americans honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.  Especially at this moment in history, when national sovereignty and democratic governance are being violently challenged in different parts of the world, it feels especially important and timely to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our democracy and freedom.

On Sunday, May 29th, WPBS presents a selection of documentaries on related themes:

12:00 pm    Sky Blossom: Diaries of the Next Greatest Generation

1:00 pm      Shrapnel Down: My Korean War Story

2:00 pm      They Volunteered for This: Merrill’s Marauders

3:00 pm      Memphis Belle: Her Final Mission

4:00 pm      Elvis and the USS Arizona

Then, on the evening of Sunday, May 29th, watch the National Memorial Day Concert, hosted by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise. With all-star performances and tributes from Washington, D.C., this 33rd annual event continues the tradition of honoring our men and women in uniform, their families at home and all those who have given their lives for our country. The concert airs at 8:00 pm, repeating at 9:30 pm.
