WPBS-DT ANNOUNCES NEW MULTI-PART SERIES ABOUT THE FOUNDING OF WATERTOWN

Watertown, NY- February 10, 2016 WPBS-TV, the North Country’s public broadcasting station, announces a new high definition docu-series about Watertown, New York.  This multi-episode documentary (title to be determined), will chronicle the fascinating and rich history of Watertown, New York.   This film is scheduled to air Fall 2016.

The project is a true mission-match for WPBS.  It is educational, entertaining and informational.  With respect to our four avenues of services:  Education, Economic Development, Travel & Tourism and Arts & Culture, we believe it is a natural fit in every category, stated Lynn Brown, President & General Manager of WPBS.  Tracy Duflo, Director of Production at WPBS added:  “Each time we complete a project, we see an increase in foot traffic to a region.  We are hoping we will have the same impact on Watertown, the surrounding areas and all it has to offer!”

WPBS will schedule an on-air initiative with “did you know” video vignettes about local history and other local historical content.  Multiple airings will be completed with capabilities for viewing on-line and a web component.  This will serve our community for a long time to come and become a part of the historical archives at WPBS-DT.  The b-roll collected during filming will serve dual purposes for future projects and opportunities.

WPBS-DT plans to release the docu-series in the Fall of 2016 with multiple broadcasts planned as well as uploading on-line for friends and family outside of the region to enjoy.  An extensive marketing/outreach campaign will be conducted and WPBS will develop a complimentary Teacher’s Guide and educational activities for use in all schools and libraries in our broadcast community.  The docu-series, teacher’s guide and activities will also be made available on PBS Learning Media for use state-wide.  A premiere screening event with guest speakers and historians is planned before the airing in Fall 2016.  This docu-series is sponsored in part by the Daisy Marquis Jones Foundation.
