Watertown, NY – WPBS-DT, Watertown public television, just completed the 35th season of Whiz Quiz with host Glenn Gough and is pleased to announce the 2014 Whiz Quiz Champions.
The 2014 American Whiz Quiz Champions are from South Jefferson Central High School, Adams, New York. The South Jefferson team, led by Advisor Alyssa E. Freeland, demonstrated the academic knowledge necessary to win the American Competition. Thirty American high schools competed this year in the single elimination tournament.
WPBS-DT is also pleased to congratulate the 2014 Canadian Whiz Quiz Champions, Bayridge Secondary School from Kingston, Ontario. Bayridge Secondary School, with their Advisor Cindy Eccles, captured the winning title over the two Canadian teams that competed. Canadian Whiz Quiz allows WPBS-DT to reach out to the Canadian high schools in our viewing area and to celebrate academic excellence on both sides of the border to better represent our broadcast community.
South Jefferson High School and Bayridge Secondary School competed in the 2014 International Whiz Quiz Competition, with South Jefferson High School prevailing. South Jefferson High School will be presented with scholarship money during the Whiz Quiz Awards ceremony April 9th at WPBS-TV.
