STAGE NOTES SUPPORTS WPBS-TV ENDOWMENT FUND

August 18, 2016, WPBS-TV, Watertown, NY – WPBS-TV is pleased to be the primary recipient of the proceeds from the Stage Notes performance of “Nice Work If You Can Get It”.  Stage Notes, a not-for-profit theater company, strives to engage students and foster passion for musical theater while making a difference in the community.

WPBS-TV was honored to be chosen as this year’s primary recipient of the performance proceeds and received a $5,000 contribution to the newly-established WPBS-TV Endowment Fund managed by the Northern New York Community Foundation.  WPBS-TV film crew followed Stage Notes theatre students over the entire course of the production year by filming auditions, rehearsals and finally; the July performance of “Nice Work if you Can Get it.”  WPBS-DT created special “Senior Spotlight” DVD’s for each high school senior to add to their portfolio.  In addition, WPBS’DT received the rights to ‘live’ stream the production of “Nice Work If You Can Get It” for out-of-area friends and family members to enjoy.

The collaboration between Stage Notes:  Performance with a Purpose and WPBS-DT was a natural partnership due to WPBS-DT’s commitment to the Arts and Stage Notes purpose of ‘giving back’ to the community.  WPBS-DT was able to leverage the PBS brand and media assets to assist Stage Notes in their promotional efforts.   Stage Notes, under the leadership of Executive Director, Ticia Marra, teaches theatre students to use their talents and the vital values of philanthropy.  “Something magical occurred, on and off film throughout the year, as friendships and bonds were forged as a result of this partnership,” stated Julie Weston, WPBS Development Associate.
