There are three types of water on earth: Fresh water, which is found in lakes, rivers and other places, salt water, which is what all oceans and seas consist of, and brackish water, a combination of both salt and fresh water. Some fish, like the salmon, are adapted to live in both fresh water and salt water at different points in their lives, but most are made to be in just one or the other.
