2021 WPBS Writers Contest Winners Announced

The annual PBS KIDS Writers Contest is a much-loved tradition at WPBS, and an unmatched opportunity for budding young authors to express their creativity. We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 Writers Contest who were selected by an expert panel of area educators. Over  70 stories were submitted for consideration  by children in grades Kindergarten through 3^rd grade. The winners were judged to have stories which were the most creative, original, and imaginative for their grade level. Celebrating our winning authors has been modified this year and an in-person ceremony will not be held, as WPBS will be keeping the safety and health of everyone a priority. Instead, winning entries  will be celebrated on WPBS during the months of May and June.  and winners will also receive a certificate and some fantastic prizes to reward their accomplishments.

About the Writers Contest

The annual WPBS Writers Contest is designed to promote the advancement of children’s literacy skills through hands-on, active storytelling and empowers children in grades K-3 to celebrate creativity and build literacy skills by writing and illustrating their very own stories. This annual contest starts January and entries are accepted until mid-March. Winners are notified in April and celebrated either through an awards ceremony or other means in May.
