WPBS-TV Celebrates Mother’s Day with Special Programming on May 12, 2024

WATERTOWN, NY (May 8, 2024) – Mother’s Day falls on May 12, 2024 this year and WPBS is pleased to present special programming to celebrate the moms in your life.

Sunday, May 12

Finding Fate (12:00 noon)

Three powerful mothers in Poland, 2022 share in their quest to be strong for their families and help others struggling under the shadow of the war in Ukraine. A Ukrainian refugee, a Polish mother, and a Jewish, Polish mother. Through valuing each other’s histories and current realities, Finding Fate reveals that when we find common ground, we can unite to help build a shared future.

Anahita – A Mother’s Journey (1:00 pm)

Anahita, a police officer in Kabul, and the mother of five, escapes as the Taliban takes over in August 2021. This is the story of her harrowing journey out of Afghanistan and the beginning of her new life in the United States.

I’ll Find a Way or Make One: A Rosie Story (2:30 pm)

Viola Hippert grew up a child of Serbian immigrants in the shadow of the Bethlehem Steel plant in Lackawanna, New York. Her family’s strong work ethic laid the groundwork for “Vi” to become a Rosie the Riveter at Bell Aircraft Corporation during WWII. Now in her late 90s, Vi reflects on her life and has no plan to slow down.
