More and more people are doing Dry January– a month where some cut out, or reduce, their consumption of alcohol. But, what does eliminating, or cutting down alcohol intake actually do for our health?

The PBS NewsHour’s Tim McPhillips spoke with University of New Mexico Distinguished Professor of Psychology Katie Witkiewitz about the health hazards of alcohol, including disrupting sleep and increased cancer risks, and tips to continue a new relationship with alcohol beyond just Dry January.
