WATCH: What could happen if mifepristone is restricted?

The Justice Department on Monday appealed a Texas court ruling that would halt approval of mifepristone, a widely used abortion pill that’s been approved and on the market for more than 20 years. The appeal came days after conflicting rulings over the drug.

A federal judge in a separate case in Washington ruled that the FDA could not block access to the drug in the 17 Democratic-led states that sued over the issue. The split will likely send the issue to the Supreme Court.
PBS News Weekend’s Ali Rogin spoke to Sarah Varney of Kaiser Health News about what abortion access could look like if mifepristone is restricted.
