In his closing remarks, Rep. Adam Schiff, the House Intelligence Committee chair, said that his Republican colleagues’ objection to the ongoing impeachment hearings was not that President Donald Trump sought an investigation into a political rival, withheld military assistance to Ukraine, or engaged in unethical behavior.
“Their objection is that he got caught, their objection is that someone blew the whistle!” Schiff said in an impassioned statement at the closing of the Nov. 19 hearings. “And they would like this whistleblower identified. And the president wants this whistleblower punished.”
