WATCH: Protesters disrupt hearing on U.S. aid to Israel

Protesters repeatedly disrupted Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee on Tuesday.

Blinken, alongside U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, were testifying on President Biden’s $105 billion emergency aid request for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan.

Some protesters held up their hands that were painted red, with “Free Gaza” painted on their arms. Others disrupted the hearing verbally, calling for a ceasefire.

The protests come amid wider international calls for humanitarian aid to go to the people of Gaza, including the nearly 1.4 million people are displaced there, according to the United Nations. As Israel expands its ground invasion in Gaza, the United Nations has called the situation there ‘dire,’ as critical supplies such as clean water, fuel and medical supplies run low for the population of 2.3 million people.
