Sen. Tim Scott will deliver the GOP response to President Joe Biden’s first address to a joint session of Congress. He is expected to credit former President Donald Trump and Republicans with creating “a joyful springtime for our nation,” bolstering the economy and beginning to tame the pandemic, according to excerpts from his prepared remarks that have been released.
Excerpts of Biden’s speech released in advance by the White House showed the new president striking an optimistic tone, declaring that the U.S. is “turning peril into possibility, crisis into opportunity.”
Scott’s response will begin shortly after President Biden completes his joint address to Congress.
