Rock Island Lighthouse, off Fisher’s Landing, NY (St. Lawrence River)
Former Pirate Bill Johnston was appointed keeper in 1852

The current lighthouse, built in 1882, replaced that structure.
Many of the original structures built on the island are still standing, including:

Boathouse (1920)
Fieldstone Smokehouse (1847)
Shingle Style Keeper’s House (1882)
Maintained today as a park by the 1000 Islands State Parks Commission
During the summer months, the public is free to wander around or picnic on the island.
