12 years ago, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake hit the Mid-Atlantic and caused severe damage to the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. The quake caused about $38 million in damages, and over a decade later, work to restore one of the tallest structures in Washington, D.C. continues. The cathedral is home to 112 gargoyles, and the PBS NewsHour was invited to witness the reattachment of the famous decapitated gargoyle, D. Cap., about 120 feet above ground.
