WPBS-TV to Host Screening of “Where Can We Live in Peace” at Emmanuel Congregational Church

WATERTOWN, NY (April 16, 2024) – WPBS is pleased to present a free film screening of “Where Can We Live in Peace” at Emmanuel Congregational Church – 119 South Hamilton Street, Watertown, NY on Friday, April 26 at 7:00 pm. This moving documentary by award-winning Canadian documentary film director Judy Jackson spotlights the work of Pastor Ignacio Ramirez at the ABBA migrant shelter in Celaya, Mexico, which helps migrants fleeing violence, poverty and climate change. It is the only shelter that helps migrants who fall when traveling on freight trains and lose limbs, and is a microcosm of justice and compassion in a sea of despair. Learn more about the film at: www.judyfilms.com.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact WPBS Event Coordinator, Cindy Tyler at ctyler@wpbstv.org.

Where Can We Live in Peace will be broadcast on WPBS-TV Sunday, April 28 at 3:00 pm.
About Emmanuel Congregational Church

Emmanuel is an Open and Affirming congregation! In 2004 one of the items that needed to be addressed was the proposal to become an “Open and Affirming” UCC Church. This means that we voted as a congregation to formally and boldly declare that we welcome all people, as Christ did, as beloved children of God, regardless of race, sex, age, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, differing abilities, or the state of one’s spirituality. We join hundreds of other United Church of Christ congregations across the country as a multi-racial, multi-cultural, and open and affirming church.
