WPBS-TV supports students, teachers and parents starting the new school year with new Learn at Home programs and educational resources

Although elementary and secondary schools are now back in session across our region, much uncertainty remains as educators grapple with the effects of the pandemic and work with a variety of in-person, remote and hybrid learning models. In this challenging context, the team at WPBS Education Services remains dedicated to providing a variety of learning opportunities and more to encourage growth, promote cognitive development, and give students the tools they need to succeed.

Learn at Home

The WPBS Learn At Home initiative involves the curation and broadcast of curriculum-aligned programs, supporting their use with educational resources and materials for teachers, parents and students. These programs and resources are freely available to all in our region, and especially valuable for the more than 20% of area students and families who don’t have reliable access to high speed Internet.

During the 2020/21 school year, Learn at Home programming will be delivered through:

  1. World Channel – for students Grades 6 – 12, the At Home Learning block is broadcast weekdays from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
  2. WPBS-TV – for students Grades 3 – 6, two direct instruction programs will be broadcast every weekday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM – starting on Monday, October 5th. Let’s Learn! addresses learning needs for students PreK to 2nd grade with a full hour of multi-subject learning instruction. WCNY TV Classroom is produced by our sister station, WCNY Syracuse and features educators from the Syracuse City School District covering different subject areas in 30-minute instructional episodes.
