Watertown, NY- On Saturday, May 11th WPBS-TV will be presenting the 5th annual Character Breakfast at the Watertown Elks Lodge and the 17th annual Ready, Set, Fun Book Fest at the Watertown High School Gymnasium. The Character Breakfast will be held from 8-10 am, immediately preceding the Ready, Set, Fun Book Fest, which is from 11 am-2 pm.

Each May WPBS-TV holds these two events to celebrate the arrival of summer and inspire children to continue reading and learning during their break. This year’s events will feature PBS KIDS host, Miss Rosa. She will be attending both events and will be available for meet-and-greets, photos and story time.

The Character Breakfast will also feature Sid the Science Kid, Curious George, Princess Presto and Clifford the Big Red Dog. Seating for the Character Breakfast is limited, so guests should visit www.wpbstv.org to make a reservation and buy tickets. Attendance to the Ready, Set, Fun Book Fest is free, but guests are encouraged to bring a canned good donation for the Community Action Planning Council and a gently-used book for the book swap.

At the Ready, Set, Fun Book Fest children can participate in activities and visits with over 25 organizations, as well as receive a free, new book (one per family, while supplies last). The 2013 Character Breakfast and Ready, Set, Fun Book Fest are sponsored by Martin’s Point Health Care, New York Air Brake, Stewart’s Shops, and the Walmart Supercenter Store #5497 in Evans Mills.
