WPBS HOSTS TWO DOWNTON ABBEY SCREENINGS – OSWEGO, NY AND OTTAWA, ON

November 19, 2015 Watertown, NY – WPBS is pleased to bring our broadcast community, two screenings of the season premiere of Downton Abbey.  Each screening is free and will include special “after events” that require the purchase of a ticket.  Both community screenings will give viewers the opportunity to be the first to see the premiere of episode one before it is broadcast.  Downton Abbey’s sixth and final season will broadcast January 3, 2016 at 9pm on WPBS-DT.

The first screening will be held at The American Foundry, Oswego, NY on December 10th.  The evening will begin at 5pm with the last thirty minutes of the final episode of Season 5 and will then move into the Season 6 premiere.  Ticket holders will enjoy an Old World Christmas dinner after the screening that will include a menu inspired from the Downton Abbey era.  The menu includes:

  • Creamy Butternut Soup
  • Crisp Chestnut Soup
  • Spinach Salad with Goat Cheese and Toasted Walnuts
  • Suckling Pig
  • Individual Quail with Fig Sauce
  • Beef Wellington
  • Lyonnaise Potatoes
  • Red Wine Braised Cabbage
  • Dessert and coffee station – 3 mini desserts per plate which include Chocolate Mousse, Eclair, and Petit Fours

Guests will also enjoy the Concinnity Choir and be able to help trim the tree with Old World style decorations.  Tickets are $50 per person and are available to purchase at wpbstv.org.

The second screening will be held at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Ontario on December 13th.  The screening will begin at 4pm with the last thirty minutes of the final episode of Season 5 and will then move into the Season 6 premiere.  With your paid ticket, $100 per person, guests will enjoy the Christmas Tea reception and Ottawa Choir, which will begin at 5:30 pm.

The menu includes:

  • Ice Wine Marinated Fresh Strawberries
  • Dainty Maple Pastries
  • Sundried Blueberry Scones
  • Open Faced Sandwiches which include:  Atlantic Smoked Salmon, English Cucumber, Roasted Sterling Silver Strip Loin, and Curried Chicken Salad

Costumes are encouraged, but not necessary.  Tickets for both screening events can be purchased online by visiting www.wpbstv.org.
