WPBS-TV, Watertown Public Media, serving Northern New York and Eastern, Ontario Canada, is pleased to announce the addition of five new team members, brought to the team at WPBS, to advance the mission of Public Media.

In July 2018, WPBS underwent a strategic restructuring of staff, which meant moving talent to departments in need of leadership and hiring new employees that possess the expertise required for WPBS to meet and exceed goals and objectives as outlined by the senior management team and board of trustees.

Additional expertise was required in development, education, marketing and production.  To that end, the following changes and or additions were implemented at WPBS:  Kraig Everard, former Director of Corporate Support and staff member at WPBS for 11 years, was promoted to Director of Advancement; new-hire, Mark Cernero, joining our team from Philadelphia, PA, is our new Manager of Community Support, filling Mr. Everard’s former role; new team member, Emily Filley, Digital Marketing Coordinator, joining our team to assist in reaching new audiences and demographics; Michelle Todd, Family Learning Coordinator, brought on in September to redesign and develop the Educational Services opportunities at WPBS; Eric Cleary, all-new Producer/Director; and Kelsey McLean, brand new Associate Producer/Director, providing expertise in production as we get ready to release the following new, Local Productions:  Season 5 of Painting with Wilson Bickford, now seen on Create TV Nationwide and premiering February 18, 2019; Season 5 of Fishing Behind the Lines, a nationally syndicated series premiering in March 2019; New York’s Seaway Lighthouses premiering Summer 2019; Park-It!, premiering spring 2019; and, Discovering Jefferson County, premiering Fall 2019; and continuing the public affairs series, More to the Story, along with numerous other production projects.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with the changes and additions to the team at WPBS,” stated Lynn Brown, President & General Manager at WPBS.  Mrs. Brown further stated: “A recent Human Resources Instrument, facilitated by Cortel Improvement, measured the culture at WPBS, and it scored extremely high, indicating great morale and contented, but challenged staff.  I feel extremely confident and very excited that we’re providing WPBS with the technical expertise, tools and resources necessary to meet and exceed the stretch goals as outlined in our strategic plan.  This is especially vital as I get ready to finalize my exit from WPBS.  We have truly done everything possible to pass the baton to a new General Manager that will ensure a smooth and successful transition, positioning WPBS to continue to thrive and succeed.”
