WPBS-DT Announces NEW 13 Part Series – Painting with Wilson Bickford

Watertown, NY- December 5, 2014
WPBS-DT, Watertown’s public broadcasting station, is pleased to announce the new 13-part local production  “Painting with Wilson Bickford”, which began airing Monday, November 10th at 1:30pm and will continue through February, 2015, every Monday afternoon. Each episode will be available for streaming online the following day at watch.wpbstv.org.

This greatly anticipated show is hosted by North Country native, artist and author Wilson Bickford. Well-known in the North Country community for teaching art classes and painting scenes of the Adirondacks, Bickford will be sharing his knowledge, work and talent with artistically inclined viewers.  This series will feature demonstrations and techniques used to create a variety of paintings.

Wilson Bickford is a nationally known artist and instructor,  born and raised in Fowler, NY, just outside of Gouverneur.  He has conducted painting workshops for over 20 years and frequently teaches art classes in the North Country community. Wilson is primarily a self-taught artist, and his easy-going style has earned him thousands of satisfied students- thus proving his philosophy that “anyone can learn to paint.” He works in acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, with oils being his personal favorite and most-requested workshop medium. His painting tutorials on YouTube have received millions of viewings and he is the author of Wildlife Landscapes You Can Paint (NorthLight Books).

The complete 13-part series is available for purchase at wpbstv.org/PaintingWithWilsonBickford as well as the Landscape Techniques DVD, which is offered exclusively through WPBS-TV.  Episode materials and downloadable sketches will also be available at wpbstv.org/ PaintingWithWilsonBickford.

This series was made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council for the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State legislature and administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.  This series was also funded in part by Kickstarter.
