WPBS ANNOUNCES NO PLEDGE, PLEDGE CHALLENGE

WPBS-DT, Watertown Public Media, is pleased to announce the first no pledge campaign in its 60-year history!  WPBS hosts four, nine-day member drives each year.  In an attempt to reduce the number of days pledged annually, WPBS is announcing a WPBS No Pledge, Pledge Campaign leading into the Fall Festival, currently scheduled for September 8 – 16.  WPBS is announcing this summer campaign with the goal to raise members.  The more members WPBS raises, the less days WPBS pledges in September!

For example, if the No Pledge Campaign raises $30,000, it will reduce WPBS’ Fall Festival Member Drive from nine days to four!  In an effort to incentivize our two-nation broadcast community, WPBS has already started with an eight-day commitment in September.  The more members WPBS raises, the less WPBS pledges.  Viewers and members will still enjoy phenomenal programs, but with no (or fewer) interruptions!  Log onto wpbstv.org/donate to support efforts to reduce pledge!  To phone in a pledge, call Linda Brotherton at (315) 782-3142, Ext. 323 or lbrotherton@wpbstv.org.

“We believe this is a great first step in transitioning from a pledge-focused station to a member-focused station,” stated Lynn Brown, President & General Manager.  A Campaign like this allows members and never members the opportunity to support favorite programs outside of typical pledge dates, while still taking advantage of the same member benefits!  WPBS attempts to raise in excess of $500,000 annually through membership contributions.  Approximately $370,000 is spent on programming and $130,000 expended on printing and mailing Insights Member Magazine.  At WPBS, we are focused on the viewer and their expectations.
