The Great Performances series has certainly lived up to its name this season and the trend continues in December with the audacious and enormously successful remount of the smash hit musical Jesus Christ Superstar (Thursday, December 5th at 8 p.m.). Honored with five Primetime Emmy Awards, this production dazzles with spectacular staging and an all-star cast, including music stars John Legend and Alice Cooper.
In advance of the repeat airing of the entire 16-hour epic film in January, we are pleased to present Ken Burns: Country Music on Wednesday December 4th at 9 p.m. This two-hour behind the scenes review of the most inspiring and revealing moments from the film includes exclusive interviews with Burns and other members of the creative team who helped make this documentary series so riveting.
WPBS celebrates the vocal talent of the schools of the North Country with its annual High School Holiday Concert (Tuesday, December 10th at 8 p.m.). Select high school choirs perform holiday favorites and seasonal hymns.
