Republican running mate Ohio Sen. Vance closed his performance during the vice presidential debate Tuesday by turning back to the issue of energy.
Reflecting on his on childhood, Vance said his grandmother often did not have enough money to turn on the heat during cold Ohio winters. He added that he believes “that we are a rich and prosperous enough country where every American, whether they’re rich or poor, ought to be able to turn on the heat in the middle of a cold winter night.”
He blamed Vice President Kamala Harris’s policies for making it harder for the average American to turn on their heat, buy a “nice meal” for their families, live in “safe neighborhoods” and protect their communities from fentanyl.
“Now, I’ve been in politics long enough to do what Kamala Harris does when she stands before the American people and says that on Day 1, she’s going to work on all these challenges I just listed. She’s been the vice president for three and a half years. Day 1 was 1,400 days ago, and her policies have made these problems worse,” Vance claimed.
Vance at the same time urged Americans to vote for both change, as well as “a president who has already done this once before and did it well.”
With just more than a month to go before Election Day, Vance and Walz met for their first and only vice presidential debate on Oct. 1, hosted by CBS in New York.
