Rep. Katie Hill, D-Calif., gave her farewell speech on the House floor on Oct. 31. “I wanted to show young people, queer people, working people, that they belong here because this is the people’s House. I fell short of that, and I’m sorry,” Hill said. The congresswoman is resigning in light of allegations that she had inappropriate relationships with staffers. Hill has admitted she had a consensual relationship with a campaign staffer but denies allegations that she had another affair with someone on her congressional staff. She blames her husband, whom she is divorcing, and the “right-wing media” for those allegations, as well as nude photos that were posted of her online without her consent.
