Police body camera footage is shedding new light on the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump last month.
The video, released by the Butler Township Police Department, shows the moment an officer was hoisted up onto the roof of the building where the gunman was positioned. A minute later the gunman opened fire on Trump and the crowd attending the Pennsylvania rally on July 13.
The local police warned via radio that there was an armed assailant, but Secret Service agents were not on the same radio system as them.
Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe told reporters earlier this month that his agency takes full responsibility for the incident, after partially blaming local police while testifying to Congress. A Secret Service spokesman on Friday said they are reviewing the body camera footage.
