WATCH: 20 years on, one 9/11 widow’s continued push for accountability from the U.S. government

It has been 20 years since Kristen Breitweiser lost her husband in the 9/11 attacks. She has been working since then to advocate for the families of the victims. “At the end of the day, I don’t want any mom, or wife, or child, to suffer what those of us suffered on Sept. 11,” Breitweiser said. Her goal was accountability from the U.S. government. “The reality was my husband left for work one morning and never came home, and I just assumed that the government would give me answers and explain what had happened and why it had happened,” she said. “So, when we received so much resistance from at that time the Bush administration, we started doing our own research to get answers to the questions that we have…We learned that our intelligence agencies were clearly following the hijackers. They had every bit of information that they needed to stop the 9/11 attacks. And for whatever reason, the 9/11 attacks weren’t stopped and 3,000 people were murdered in broad daylight.”
