WPBS-DT, Watertown Public Broadcasting, is gearing up for its largest literacy children’s event of the year, Ready Set Fun Bookfest 2011! Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 11 am until 2 pm at the Watertown Ice Arena. This event is a Yellow Ribbon Event and free to the public, however, the donation of a canned good item is encouraged to benefit a local food pantry. Every child receives a FREE book!
Ready Set Fun Bookfest 2011 is celebrating 15 years of literacy fun, and is an event designed for parents and children to enjoy a day of interactive, educational and fun activities. There are over 30 exhibitors each year to include: North Country Children’s Clinic, Flower Memorial Library, Sci-Tech Center, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Author Hope Marston, Watertown Police Department, Adirondack Kids Press, Carthage Area Hospital, New Day Children Center, Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Literacy of Northern New York, DPAO and Author Irene Uttendorfsky. New exhibitors this year include, ServPro’s Fire Safety Truck and Home Again Farms Alpacas. Back by popular demand is the 2 for 1 Scholastic Book Sale and the gently used book swap, where children "give a book", take a book.”
