Heroes Among Us

Who is Your Hometown Hero?

All over the world, communities are thanking doctors, nurses, EMT’s, and first responders of all kinds - as well as many community members who are working to support them who sacrifice their health, their families, and their time to take care of us during COVID-19.

Now, here in the North Country and Eastern Ontario, we want to do the same.

We’re collecting a series of THANK YOU videos to share with our thousands of social media followers. And we’d love to have one from you.

If you want to thank someone in your community for the work they're doing at this time, please create a :30 second video and give a shout out to your Hometown Hero.

What Do I Need to Do?

Before you record your video: Make sure you are in an area that is well-lit and we can see your face clearly. Hold the phone close to you so that your phone’s microphone will pick up your voice easily and will mitigate background noise. Speaking of which, listen before your record: is there a light that’s buzzing? Furnace making noise? Traffic? Try to be in an area that’s fairly quiet. And please hold your phone as steady as possible! After that, take out your phone, hold it sideways, hit record, and go for it!

To keep things consistent and streamlined, please keep your video no longer than :30 seconds.

Start with:
- Your heroes name
- What they do
- Where they work
- Your message of support

Example: “John Dale, a nurse at Samaritan Medical Center is my Hometown Hero! John, thank you for all you do at the hospital. We love you, we’re proud of you, and we want the world to know!”

Easy, right? And it will mean so much to your loved one.

When you’re done creating your masterpiece, upload your video here

We’ll take it from there and post it on social media and on wpbstv.org.

Keep your eyes peeled so you can share it and your friends can share it and your friends’ friends can share it. We owe those on the front lines a massive thank you. Let’s show them what they truly mean to us.
