Steely Dan combined rock, jazz and funk in “Kid Charlemagne,” a single off the band’s 1976 album, The Royal Scam. Written by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, the song is performed by Fagen, Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald in a live performance during a Dukes of September concert for Great Performances. Airing in March on PBS. Check local listings.
