Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro lit up on March 18 in solidarity with other nations who are also fighting against the novel coronavirus. Images of continents, flags and hashtags appeared on the statue at night to encourage people to “pray together.” There are over 220,000 confirmed cases and close to 10,000 deaths from the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, as of March 19.
