WPBS-DT, Watertown, PBS , announces a new, local production, in high-definition, entitled “The Raquette River Winter Experience” hosted by Don Meissner and premiering January 20th at 7:30pm. This documentary is part two of the Raquette River Experience and is provided in part by grants from Brookfield Renewable Energy, North Country Savings Bank, and TJ Toyota of Potsdam.   This 30-minute documentary was created in an effort to help foster pride, create awareness and promote the Raquette River and all of the exciting winter recreational activities available each winter season.

WPBS-DT highlights the various activities provided by the towns along the Raquette River during the winter months. It is an insight into the imaginations of not only the people who live in these areas but, also, the outdoor adventures one can take advantage of during the snow covered seasons of Northern New York along the Raquette River. “The Raquette River Winter Experience” captures the spirit and the hearts of those people who have taken the cold winter months and turned them into fun filled family excitement.

The Raquette River Blueway Corridor group was instrumental in the creation of this two-part series.  They are advocates of the Raquette River region in New York State and seek to protect, promote, and enhance important resources and to create increased economic, recreational, and tourism opportunities for residents and visitors along this river.

“WPBS-DT should be the voice of the community and should do everything we can to tell the story our two-nation broadcast community.  We have done exactly that through this new 30-minute, high definition local production” stated Lynn Brown, WPBS President.   “The Raquette River Winter Experience” will be shown in communities along the river during various winter festivals this season.  It will also re-air on WPBS-DT January 20th at 11:30pm, January 25th at 4:00pm, February 2nd at 1:30pm and February 7th at 10:30pm and again on-line at wpbstv.org/watchonline.

WPBS-TV is a non-profit public television station serving approximately 650,000 households throughout Northern New York and Eastern Ontario. WPBS-TV’s mission is to educate, entertain and inform our two-nation audience through superior local and national content and media engagement in order to enhance the lives of those it serves.
