Thank you to Mary Ann Owen, from Winged Camel Metalworks, for this truly unique and beautiful donation. Riding the Wild Teapot is a small, whimsical, limited edition (only 25 made) teapot made by Winged Camel Metalworks of Coton, NY. The piece is fabricated from copper pipe, wire and sheet metal using silver solder and an oxy-acetylene torch. The four tiney sterling silver figures on top of the teapot are cast at the Winged Camel studio, then silver soldered on to the lid. The finished piece is colored with a patina of liver of sulfur and waxed to produce a permanent finish. The teapot holds liquid and pours nicely but they do not recommend that you drink from it. The capacity of the teapot is only a few ounces and is meant to enhance the collection teapot lovers. Winged Camel has made a series of limited edition teapots. Winged Camel Metalworks is a small metalworking studio located in the northern foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. Owned and operated by Malcolm and Mary Ann Owen, it has been in business since 1985, each of their pieces are made entirely by hand, one at a time.
