Each spring WPBS-DT holds its annual All Star Auction. Our largest fundraising event of the year encompasses nine evenings and thousands of items. Saturdays and Sundays the auction begins at 6pm and concludes around midnight. Monday through Friday we begin at 7pm and conclude at midnight. A wide variety of items are up for bid throughout the nine evenings including gift certificates, trips, admission tickets, toys, clothing, gift items, jewelry and so much more.
THE ALL-STAR AUCTION ’14 –RULES
The number to call when bidding is 315-782-8600. You must be at least 18 years of age to bid, that you can engage in a binding contract and that you intend to fulfill your obligations on any high bid. High bidders that do not pick up their items will have their bidding privileges suspended for future auctions. There is no charge for bidding ... Make note of the item number and what board this item is on. All items are represented in U.S. funds and all bidding is in U.S. funds! Please keep this in mind when bidding. All items auctioned off will have an “Opening Bid.” Our volunteer phone operators will advise each caller of the opening bid of the item they are bidding on.
Call the volunteer operator and give him/her your name, address, and a telephone number where you can be reached for confirmation of your bid. Please note, the high bid is not always presented on the board, as there are 16 phone operators taking bids at all times, on all items. In the event of a tie bid, each bidder will be called and asked for the highest bid they wish to place on the item. The high bidder will prevail and be called by our confirmation department.
All high bidders will receive a confirming phone call. Do not come to Pick Up & Pay until you have received a call from our good friends at Confirmation. Confirmation calls are only made until 11 pm. All high bidders after 11 pm will receive confirmation calls the following day.
You will only see items on Boards A through D two times before they are sold. Bidding will increase by increments of on All Star Items, for Major Items and for Champion Items. To be a successful high bidder, we urge you to bid quickly and of course high! All proceeds benefit Public Television. All items and gift certificates are not exchangeable, not refundable, and not redeemable for cash. The annual All Star Auction is not possible without the generosity of our donors and viewers. If any donor or high bidder experiences any difficulties, we urge you to contact WPBS immediately so that we can resolve the issue for you in a satisfactory manner.
EXPRESS BID NUMBERS
To simplify the bidding process you may sign up for an Express Bid Number now by calling 315-782-8600. There is no charge for an express bid number.
To contribute merchandise to the All Star Auction ... please call the Auction Office at 315-782-8600 evenings.
If your winning bid is an overbid, you’ll have your choice of:
- A six-pack of Pepsi!
- Or … a gift certificate to Jodi’s Dairy Bar in Brownville, New York
- Or … a gift certificate from Church Street Diner in Carthage, New York!
- Or … a WPBS insulated tote bag from Independent Commercial Contractors!
- Or … a gift certificate to the Yellow Barn Winery!
As required by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, WPBS-TV will be collecting sales tax on auction items in addition to your winning bid amount.
We will ship certificates only. Certificates will be shipped the week after auction. WPBS is not responsible for lost or misdirected mail. All other items must be picked up at the WPBS Studios, 1056 Arsenal Street, Watertown, New York. All items must be picked up by Friday, May 30, 2014.
PICK UP & PAY HOURS (DURING AUCTION WEEK):
During Auction Week:
Through Sunday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Monday, May 5th through Friday, May 9th: 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
Then May 12th to May 30th , Monday through Friday only: 9am to 4 pm. Closed Saturdays and Sundays. Pick up and Pay hours will coincide with WPBS observed holiday hours.
All items must be picked up by Friday, May 30, 2014.
