Each May, WPBS hosts a Character Breakfast immediately preceding the Annual Ready, Set Fun Literacy Event! The PBS Kids Character Breakfast gives parents and kids an opportunity to have breakfast with their favorite PBS Kids Characters, watch their favorite episodes of PBS Kids programs, have a story read by local authors at story time, have an exclusive photo op with the Characters and receive a PBS Kids "goody-bag."
The PBS Kids Character Breakfast is sponsored in part by the generosity of the Watertown Elk's Lodge and other community organizations.
Immediately following the breakfast, parents and kids can make their way over to the Ready, Set Fun! Literacy Event at Watertown High School. This event is WPBS largest kid's event. Admission is free with the donation of a canned good donation. All food items are donated to the Community Action Planning Council. Each year, over 1000 pounds of food is donated to this local pantry through WPBS-DT's Ready, Set Fun!
